Andrew's birthday pictures

Well I finally looked through Andrew's 2nd birthday party pictures. Sadly, the focus was on the wrong setting and the majority came out really blurry. These are the good ones!

Where's the pictures?

Ok, I know I said I'd post pictures from Andrew's birthday and yes, I'll get to that eventually. It's been so crazy at my house and dealing with having my computer in storage, I just haven't done it yet! AHH! I am thankful my husband is letting me use his laptop though!

Funny thing happened today and I thought I'd share. Austin is a VERY timid person and hates to try anything that threatens his balance or makes him feel there's a chance he may fall. He just recently mastered climbing the stairs (at 5 years old mind you!) both up and down and is still not comfortable going down slides without some assistance. Austin is just not the kid to shock me with his antics, he's very predictable.

That being said, when I walked into the living room to see my 6 year old son sitting on top of the arm of the couch-I was shocked! After I picked my chin up off the floor, I asked him what in the world he was doing up there! He just gave me this big grin and looked so proud of himself. How do you tell your child not to climb the furniture?!?! It's physical therapy for goodness sakes! LOL

Happy *Belated* Birthday Andrew

As I did for Austin's birthday, I thought I'd tell Andrew's birth story-although fairly uneventful!

For some lovely reason, my body feels to need to extend pregnancies to the full extent. I was 3 days past Austin's due date when he was born and Andrew didn't make his grand entrance until he was 5 days past his due date.

In the wee hours of July 18th (2am to be exact), I was woken up with contractions. Nothing big, just annoying. I had a feeling I was in labor so I timed my contractions (5-7 minutes apart) and then took a shower since I knew a quiet shower wouldn't be in my forecast for a long time! Around 3am I decided to wake Ben up and tell him I was in labor. Contractions still weren't too bad but they were intensifying. For the next hour we debated when to call my parents to come over to stay with Austin. After all, my labor with Austin was just 8 hours...who knew how long Andrew would hold on! By 4am, I was definately ready to get to the hospital since the backrubs had ceased to relax me and I had to start my breathing exercises. My parents arrived at our house by 4:20am so Ben and I took off to the hospital. After being admitted, I was told I was at 4cm (not what any pregnant mom in labor wants to hear). I labored for what felt like hours till I couldn't take it anymore and asked for my epidural. While waiting for the anesthesiologist, my water broke. Don't you just love the feeling of wetting your pants?!? Not my favorite part of labor that's for sure! LOL The wonderful pain reducing dr. finally arrived, started prepping me, put the catheter in my back, and then told the nurse to check how far along I was. Well to my delight (and dismay) I was at 10cm and Andrew was making his entrance WITHOUT my pain meds. OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Andrew Michael made his entrance at 7:45am (yes that's only 5 1/2 hours of labor!) weighing 6 pounds 15 ounces (dispite being 5 days late!) and was 19 1/2 inches long!

Happy birthday my *little* 2 year old!

Church Softball game

Ok, like I said, after Andrew's b-day party we all went to watch our church's 2 softball teams play against each other. I took several pictures so thought I'd share them!

Here's Austin watching intently...either that he's bored. =)

Ben and Andrew

Austin's wearing someone's glasses-we had no idea who's they were! LOL

Our church's 2 teams (minus a few missing people!)

What a busy weekend!

Wow, can't believe how quickly the weekend flew by! Friday was Andrew's 2nd birthday (which I'll post about later, with pictures). After his quick party, all the guests and family went to our church's softball game (we have 2 teams and they were playing each other!).

The next morning (Saturday) Ben and I got up early and had a yard sale! Phew! They sure do wear me out! We did ok for the yard sale and I'm sad to say I sold my computer desk. Ok I'm more than sad, I'm downright lost without it! I live at my computer desk! I file EVERYTHING, do my banking, blogging, church nursery schedules, bill paying...all at my desk. And I miss it. =( I'm sure you're wondering why in the world did I get rid of it if I liked it so much right? LOL Ben and I are in the process of moving to a new location (about 10 minutes from here) so I wanted to get rid of my giant corner desk so we wouldn't have to move it. When we move to our new home I'll buy something more compact! I have all my papers ( and lots of them) in paper bags in my living room along with my desktop that is sitting on the floor. Have I told you I miss my desk? LOL It's quite sad, actually! Thankfully my husband has a laptop I can use!

Andrew got Mail!

A package arrived today in honor of Andrew's 2nd birthday...can't believe he'll be 2 on Friday! I attempted to take pictures of him opening his package from Ben's parents (Grandpa and Nana to him) but staying true to his age, he wouldn't sit still!

Opening the card...

Opening the package...

Giving his new stuffed puppy a hug

Showing us his new clothes

He insisted we put his new pj's on him...doesn't he look lovely!?! LOL

The Joys of Toddlerhood

Took a picture of Andrew during lunch time...he's eating strawberry applesauce. Sort of. He first emptied his sauce onto his plate (which still held parts of a sandwich) then he ate whatever was left out of the bowl. I think toddlers should come with a free maid for a year!

I have 2 "little" kids!

Andrew had his 2 year well child check up today. I'm convinced that I grow small kids! LOL Both boys were born at 6 pounds and even though Austin is little due to RTS, he's on the small side on the RTS charts!

That being said, Andrew weighed in at 23 pounds and 32 1/2 inches tall. Little squirt! Dr. said great things come in small packages! I couldn't agree more! On the charts Andrew is between 5-10% for height and 3-5% for weight. No complaining here-less to carry around I guess.

Speaking of carrying things around, we're in the midst of a role reversal. I always knew it would happen someday and that someday would be soon but already!?!? Andrew turns 2 on the 18th and is VERY independent. He loves to do everything for himself so lately when I take him out of his car seat he says "I walk". In other words, "don't you even think about putting me in the shopping cart". Austin, on the other hand cries if you Don't put him in the shopping cart. So at the store, my 6 year old rides and my 23 month old walks next to us. Crazy isn't it?

Every once in a while (actually it's pretty frequent) Andrew just blows me away with his "typical" behaviors. I know I'll get some wierd looks for saying this but raising a child without special needs is sooo much easier! Andrew is so much more interested in playing and learning than Austin is. I took this picture of couple days ago. It's Andrew's favorite pastime. He loves to color (which is nice but Austin hates it) and he's actually really good at it. He can stay in the lines some of the time!

By the way, I colored the umbrella in the picture but Ernie and Bert's noses, he did himself!
