Dur to Labor Day, my husband has tomorrow off from work! We decided we'd go somewhere fun that we've never been so we're heading to the Syracuse Zoo here in NY. It's an hour drive so not bad at all! I'll be posting pictures of our trip soon!

25 Things About Me...

Well, my blogging buddies have started this thread so I'm going to continue it!

1. I lived in Alaska for 9 years (Air Force Brat)
2. There are no divorces in my immediate family or my husband's! (Praise God!)
3. I am a Pastor's kid (also known as PK)
4. Jesus Christ is a major part of my life. I asked Him into my heart at 8 years old and haven't looked back.
5. I suffered 2 miscarriages (one at 6 weeks, one at 11 weeks) before becoming pregnant with Austin.
6. I love to be orgazined but you'd never know it looking at my house! Kids hinder that, don't you know!
7. I love romantic comedies...I'm a sap!
8. I love to sing (especially by myself in the car) but I hate performing. I'm in the choir at church and get extrememly nervous singing in front of people!
9. I met my husband at church when I was 17, we married 4 months after I graduated high school.
10. I am spontaneous!
11. I love to travel and want to make it to all 50 states! I've been to roughly 35 as of right now!
12. I love being alone, enjoying the peace and quiet (which doesn't happen very often!)
13. I'd love to become fluent in sign language.
14. I listen to only christian music-was brought up that way. I find it uplifting and encouraging. K-LOVE is my station!
15. I don't get star struck when seeing famous people, no matter who they are.
16. I have really long legs and arms. I call my arms "monkey arms". My in-seam measures 37"!
17. I wear contacts and glasses...I hate my glasses...a lot.
18. I am not a morning person so don't wake me up. I require 8 hours!
19. I crochet although I'm not real good at it.
20. I'm not athletic at all, long arms and legs just get in the way. I'm not too bad at volleyball though.
21. I'm a VERY picky eater and hate admitting it. I try new things but just can't get myself to like them! I hate tomatoes, cheddar cheese, foods mixed together, etc. Give me steak and potatoes any day!
22. I wish I could cook but can't. I love to bake though!
23. I'm not an outdoorsy person, camping is not for me...I'm a city girl! My husband and I once walked 86 blocks in NYC...that was outdoors! LOL
24. I never went to college. I took 2 courses in high school but once I graduated, I decided I'd rather become a mom then have a career.
25. I love to get the mail...even if it's the bills.

My Quirky Kids

Yeterday Ben and I were in the kitchen enjoying that rare moment of adult convesation. I was prepping for dinner and he was helping. Ben doesn't usually get the chance to help me prep since I ask him to keep the kids out of my hair. =)

Let me back it up a little: I planned on serving corn on the cob and chicken sandwiches for dinner. While the boys were playing outside after Andrew's nap, I husked corn. When that was finished we all trekked inside out of the hot humid sun. I set the bag of husked corn in the entryway and went to the kitchen to start dinner. The boys went to do their own thing so Ben came to help me.

All caught up now?!?

About 15 minutes into prepping dinner, I commented on how quiet the boys were. Quiet kids usually equals trouble. Ben went to go check on them and all of a sudden yells "Andrew! What in the world are you doing?!?!" The mommy brain kicked in and I immediately thought of worse case scenario...luckily it wasn't! I stuck my head out of the kitchen to see Andrew at the front door with my bag of corn. Eating it RAW.

First of all, Andrew has never had corn on the cob. I've always cut it off. I just assumed he wasn't 'there' just yet. Boy was I wrong! Luckily he'd only gotten into one ear of corn but we couldn't take it away from him for anything! So figuring the worst that could happen is a nasty diaper, we put him at the table with his raw ear of corn. He sat and ate the entire thing, leaving no kernels behind. GROSS!

While all this is going on we still haven't checked on Austin. Come to find out, he's fast asleep in the middle of the living room floor. =) Ben had taken him swimming an hour earlier...guess he wore him out!

Welcome to the world Sawyer!

As you can see from the side bar of the blog, a new little one has entered the world born with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome. Welcome to the world Sawyer! Our prayers are with you and your family as you travel a road you never thought you'd be walking down.

Where has the time gone?

Boy has this summer just flown by! My husband and I are involved in soo many things that it feels like summer barely happened! Austin has 2 more weeks of vacation and he's off to his 2nd year of kindergarten. I'm looking forward to him returning. Not necessarily for the break but because he craves stuctured events. He thrives with a steady routine!

Now that Vacation Bible School is well over, I'm knee deep in getting ready for our church's first MOPS meeting of the year. MOPS stands for Mothers Of Preschoolers and we getting ready to begin our 4th (or is it 5th?) year. We meet twice a month at our church for crafts, games, food, fellowship, and listen to speakers. Childcare is taken care of! This will be my 2nd year being the Finance Coordinator. If you aren't involved in a MOPS group in your area, look into it! It's so much fun! www.mops.com

What would YOU say?

Almost every day I run into people who make comments about my kids. Doesn't everybody? Well, how do you reply when people don't realize the apple of your eye is mentally handicapped? I'm at a loss.

Today I was at the grocery store (by myself!!! Thank you Ben!)and I was cashing in my WIC checks. Knowing I had kids, the bagger asked me what their ages are. I LOVE talking about my kids so I quickly replied "Six and Two". She gave me an exaggerated look and said "Don't you just hate 6 year old's attitudes? They think they know it all!". I was at a loss for words. I just smiled, thanked her, and went home. What was I to say? "No, not really, my 6 year old can't talk?" I come across this problem fairly often and haven't decided if I want to belt out "he's handicapped so sorry I don't deal with that".

Onto more Austin...here's a picture I took this evening of him. He had decided that eating baked beans with a spoon or fork was WAY too much work so yep, he used his hands. And then proceded to rub his eyes, itch his ear, and run his hands through his hair. Yeah. Bath Time was immediately afterward. =)

If you want to REALLY see the pic well...click on it! It's priceless!

Vacation Bible School

Today was Day 1 of our church's VBS! This year theme is Outrigger Island from Lifeway. I meant to bring my camera with me this morning so I could post some pictures but I forgot it! I'll hopefully remember it tomorrow so you can see how beautifully we've decorated the church. I'm in charge of registration again this year and today went much smoother than I imagined! Praise the Lord, we had 78 kids attend today and 47 adults helping out! WOW!

Oooow!

Yeah that's what's my toe looks like right now. Not sure if I broke it or not since it feels MUCH better today than it did yesterday (when my owie occurred). Just so you know, walls don't move when you run into them. Oh and it hurts. Bad.

On a happier note, This is Andrew's new favorite pastime. He doesn't always walk around in my high heels. Sometimes it's my sandals or Ben's flip flops!

Here's another cute picture of Andrew. He's such a organizer! When he colors, he likes to line up his crayons. No, he didn't color the car in the picture...Ben did!
